Pastor Maxwell Ferguson
Dr. Maxwell Ferguson has dedicated over two decades to ministry, serving faithfully as a pastor and leader within the Seventh-day Adventist Church. His pastoral journey has taken him from the heart of New York City to several communities in Connecticut—including Hartford, Bloomfield, and Bridgeport. In 2017, he became part of the Allegheny East Conference family, shepherding the Petersburg, VA congregation before later serving in Woodbridge, VA with the Potomac Conference.
A proud alumnus of the historic HBCU, Oakwood University, Pastor Ferguson also holds a Master of Divinity from the Theological Seminary at Andrews University and a Doctor of Ministry from Hartford International University. He has further completed the requirements to serve as a Board-Certified Hospital Chaplain, extending his ministry of compassion beyond the church walls.
Pastor Ferguson is a devoted father of three adult children who bring him immense pride and joy. His daughter, Norell, holds graduate degrees in both Architecture and Public Policy. His son Nicholas is a CPA with a graduate degree in Computer Science, and his youngest, Nelson, is a La Sierra University graduate with a Fine Arts degree in Script Writing for Film and Television.
Throughout his years of service, Dr. Ferguson has led congregations of varying sizes and has played a vital role in church growth and renewal. His leadership has guided successful facility renovations and fundraising initiatives, including helping one congregation raise over $170,000 in under a year toward a new church building. His passion for ministry centers on equipping believers to live out their faith with purpose—helping every member become an active, fruit-bearing disciple of Christ.
Dr. Ferguson is deeply committed to teaching and modeling biblical principles, believing that when God’s people are rooted in His Word, the church thrives. His gifts in leadership, mentoring, teaching, preaching, and administration have continually strengthened the ministries he has served.
When he’s not engaged in pastoral duties, Pastor Ferguson enjoys cycling, reading, cooking, and baking—simple joys that reflect his balance of discipline and creativity.
Dr. Ferguson counts it a privilege and blessing to serve as pastor of Community Fellowship Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he continues to lead with humility, vision, and a heart for discipleship.
